Volunteer
Can you spare a couple of hours to help make a difference to the lives of others?
Bolton Dementia Support relies on the contribution made by its fantastic volunteers without whom we could not manage to support the 150-200 people that use our service each week.
Volunteering can have a tremendously positive effect to both the volunteer and to the community. People often approach us when they are at a low ebb themselves and need an aim in life particularly if they have retired or lost a job.
The benefits of volunteering are enormous. The right match can help you to reduce stress, find friends, reach out to the community, learn new skills, and even advance your career. Giving to others can also help protect your mental and physical health.
Whilst it is true that the more you volunteer, the more benefits you’ll experience, volunteering doesn’t have to involve a long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of your busy day. As little as two hours a week can make a huge difference.
The kind of thing our volunteers do is run a weekly quiz, help cater at our events, sell raffle tickets, run bingo sessions, take part in training events and most importantly be there to offer their experiences of living with a loved one with dementia.
