Support for Carers

Contact Bolton Dementia Support today to see how they can help you and those you care for.

We understand the need to support the wider family and carers of people living with Dementia (PLWD) and offer a selection of services designed to support all involved.

Carers Equip

On a Tuesday we run our Carers Equip group, this is essentially a carers educational session.

Carers and the people they care for are all welcome. We have an open session 10.30-11am where we all meet and have tea and coffee, at 11am we split the room into 2 rooms with a folding door.

On the Carer side

The charity invites professionals from all areas of care to come and educate carers on their dementia carer role. We have solicitors, podiatrists, the admiral nurse, AgeUK and many more. This is a small supportive group aims to provide a safe and free environment to discuss your experiences with others in a similar situation.

On the Cared for side

The charity invites guests and provides therapeutic and reminiscence activities for your loved one often including singing, quizzes, reminiscence boxes, crafts and most importantly lots of laughs and a sense of belonging.

Memory Cafes

The memory cafes offer a lovely social space for you and the PLWD to attend and have a singsong and maybe a dance.

This has been said to be a couples “new night out”.

A great afternoon for carers and cared for.

Zoom Carers

On a Friday we offer an online zoom session for carers.

This is provided by one of our wonderful counselling services and allows a safe space for carers to discuss their latest challenges with other carers from the comfort of their own home.

Ideal for those with mobility issues, phobias of going out after covid or unable to separate from loved one for any period of time.

These sessions are shown on our weekly email with log in details.

Each week a new topic is covered which is designed to support you and cover any challenges you may be facing.
